The Festival Ladies don’t tend to travel outside the greater Sydney metropolitan area for festivals terribly often, but the line up for Sounds of Spring was too good to miss. Gemdilem managed to win a ticket, and that’s all that was needed for Ambascamba to commit to the trip northwards.

After a couple of years of somewhat disappointing Homebake lineups (we all know it’s true) it’s reassuring to see a strong Oz and NZ festival, in the form of Sounds of Spring. So reassuring, in fact, that the Festival Ladies will be deploying troops northwards to soak up some of the glorious sunny weather and to get amongst the mayhem of this Saturday’s SoS 09 in Brisbane!

We’ve always held a very special place in our hearts for Frenzal Rhomb (except Poleski). Dating back to the days of 1996 when we use to attend u18 gigs a the Sutherland Entertainment Centre. In April we attended their comeback show at the Metro. It was just like old times – sweat, circle pits, beer and moshing. It turns out the comeback show wasn’t just a one off or a desperate attempt to keep the band above the poverty line. Frenzal Rhomb really are back!!! And will be making their return to the festival scene, playing at the Sounds of Spring festival in September!
