The Festival Ladies, minus Mrs Pop who is currently lost to the Seattle grunge movement, attended Homebake on the weekend. The much loved Aussie / NZ festival once again this year did not disappoint. With Futurama tattoos, vodka infused slurpees, the revival of the epic 90s band Tumbleweed, interpretive dancing, vodka smuggled in via Ribena squeezies and yet another moshpit injury… it had it all. It’s official, the kids love Tumbleweed as much as we do. After presales selling out last week, general release tickets for Homebake 2009 were all gone today within minutes of going on sale this morning. Nothing to do with Sneaky Sound Finger or whoever else is playing, we are sure.

Consider yourself warned that all Festival Ladies will be present at the Domain on the 5th of December 2009. That is if we survive our first ever all combined effort, Coaster.

To celebrate their 15th birthday, Homebake are inviting old friends and new friends to the party. They’ve even resurrected a few friends from the grave!

Tumbleweed, a band that defined the 1990s Australian grunge movement, will be reforming and performing at this year’s Homebake with the original line up!!! Excited doesn’t even cover what we are feeling right now with memories and the emotions of Homebake 1998 coming flooding back. It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for, the return of grunge. The return of gaffa tape (to tape down shoe laces for the grunge-fest mosh pit) and army shorts (possibly too hot for flannels?). We only hope that time has been kind to Tumbleweed.
