Tomorrow we walk…

There are stupid ideas and there are very stupid ideas. Deciding to walk 26 km in one day is one of those VERY stupid ideas.

Tomorrow the Festival Ladies will attempt to complete the Sydney Harbour Circle Walk. It’s a 26 km walk through the City, Darling Harbour, Rozelle, Hunters Hill, Riverview, Wollstonecraft, Waverton before crossing the Harbour Bridge and returning to the City.

But why?
Back in 2004, at Tropfest, Ambascamba realised she couldn’t focus on the screen. It turned out that there was something seriously wrong with her eye. As a result of several treatments her sight is now fully restored and back to normal. julEYE (formerly July) is an annual charity campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds for eye health research. Ambascamba set herself a challenge to do the 26 km walk. All money raised from people sponsoring her to do the walk goes to the Eye Foundation.

Will we finish the walk? Who knows. None of us have ever walked 26 km before, we really are entering unknown territory.

Will we get on each others nerves? Pretty much guaranteed.

Will we get lost? Highly likely. None of us are very good at reading maps or paying attention.

Will the walk turn into a pub crawl? Probably (3 to 1 odds).

Should be one very long, fun and tiring day. You can follow all the action from the walk live tomorrow on Twitter.
